Accident Reports
If you have been involved in a motor vehicle accident that was handled by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office a copy of the state accident report will be mailed to each driver once the report has been completed.
If you are involved in a minor accident you will receive a copy of the report before you leave the scene.
Insurance companies may request a copy of the accident report by sending their request and check for $2.00 to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office

Incident Reports
Incident reports can be requested from the Records Division by email, phone or fax or by filling out the Records Request Form. The Communications Division can be reached at after regular business hours.
Some reports are considered private or confidential per Minnesota Data Practices Act and cannot be released by us. You will be notified if this pertains to your request. Reports that have been forwarded to a prosecutor for charges will need to be requested from the prosecuting attorney.
