Mortgage Foreclosures

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will conduct Foreclosure Sales on Thursday's and Friday’s at 10:00 a.m. excluding holidays. Mortgage foreclosures will take place in the sheriff's office lobby, 216 7th Avenue West, Alexandria, MN 56308.

A $50.00 fee will need to be paid at the time of sale.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Civil Process Unit DOES NOT provide a list of upcoming sales. The attorney for the mortgage company must publish a Notice of Foreclosure Sale in a qualified newspaper. (In Douglas County Echo Press)

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Civil Process Unit serves as the auctioneer at the sale.

Sale Procedures:

· The sheriff or his designee conducts mortgage foreclosure sales in an opening biding process. Sales are conducted weekdays at 10:00 a.m. (Thursdays/Friday.) The sale takes place at the sheriff’s office lobby (216 7th Avenue West Alexandria, MN 56308.)

· The property will be sold to the highest bidder.

· A successful bidder must have cash or certified funds payable to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. These funds must be made at the time of sale.

· All mortgage foreclosure sales are subject to redemption by the mortgagor. The length of the redemption period is identified in the Notice of Sale.
