Honor Guard
The Honor Guard was officially adopted as a special team within the Sheriff Office in January of 2006.
The primary mission of the Douglas County Sheriff Honor Guard is to pay tribute and remember those Peace Officers who gave their lives in the line of duty while selflessly executing a sworn oath to protect the citizens of our community.
Our motto, “Honoris Causa” means: “For the Sake of Honor”
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Honor Guard is comprised of six dedicated deputies who have demonstrated the true meaning of Honor. Our definition of Honor includes pride, integrity, professionalism, and courage. We are a ceremonial unit that provides military-style funeral honors for fallen law enforcement officers, including Posting/Presenting Colors, Casket Detail, Casket/Door Guard, Rifle Detail, and Flag Fold Detail.
We represent the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office at law enforcement functions and community events. The Honor Guard is supported by the Sheriff’s Office with financial assistance from public and private donors.
