Conditional Use

A Conditional Use Permit is required for some land uses that under most circumstances would be allowed with appropriate restrictions. Such uses must be compatible with the existing neighborhood and conform to the county’s comprehensive land use plan. The landowner must then present their application at a public hearing in front of the Planning Advisory Commission. The PAC will make a recommendation to approve or deny the application. The decision then goes to the County Board for final approval or denial.

The process of obtaining a conditional use permit generally takes four to five weeks but can take longer if the application not complete or is tabled for more information. More information about Conditional Use Permits can be found in Section VII of the Zoning Ordinance.
