Child Support

Douglas County Child Support Agency offers a range of services to help establish, collect, and enforce child support obligations. These services are available to parents or caregivers who have a minor child living in their household, rely on them for financial support, and have a parent who does not reside in the home.

Child support agencies and County Attorneys do not represent either parent in child support matters. Instead, their role is to promote and protect the best interests of the child while ensuring compliance with Minnesota child support laws and guidelines.

In Minnesota, parents also have access to an expedited child support process, which allows them to address certain child support issues without hiring an attorney and to represent themselves during court proceedings.

Working Together

Douglas County Child Support is here to work with you. Here are some helpful tips to help us help you:
Tell your worker about any changes: address, phone number, job change or loss, serving jail time, become injured or disabled, go back to school, or child(ren) now living in your household.
Open your mail from the state or county child support office.
Fill out and return any paperwork we send you; if you are having a hard time doing so, let us know.
Respond to our messages or letters. We may need information that helps us with your case.
If you have questions, contact your worker. You can call or email your Child Support Officer (CSO) or use the web messaging feature in Minnesota Child Support Online (MCSO).
If you are unable to make your full payment, pay what you can and contact your worker to let them know.
Stay in touch.
