Case Details:
On February 16th,2024 at 2031 hours, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a chimney fire at 1724 E Lake Geneva Rd NE. The caller stated her chimney had caught fire and the house was full of smoke. Deputies along with the Alexandria Fire Department responded to the scene. When emergency services arrived on scene the smoke had died down but was still active near the top of the fireplace. Eventually the Alexandria Fire Department punctured a hole in the wall where they located a small fire. Alexandria Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. There was moderate damage sustained to the wall where the fire was located and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is believed to be related to the fireplace.
