During the 2022 Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust (MCIT) Annual Membership Meeting held in Bloomington Dec. 5, Board Chair Felix Schmiesing announced that Douglas County is the 2022 recipient of the distinguished MCIT County of the Year Award.

Each December MCIT honors the county that has set the standard of excellence in risk management and loss control. Schmiesing was proud to present the award to Douglas County for its outstanding commitment to risk management and loss control, its aggressive efforts to educate and inform staff on techniques to mitigate exposures and its superior assistance when claims arise.

“Douglas County has excelled at risk control during the past year and so has earned the designation of County of the Year from MCIT,” Schmiesing said.

The award winning county distinguishes itself in the areas of loss control and risk management. Criteria used to identify the recipient include risk management, loss control, customer service, property/casualty claims and workers’ compensation claims.
