Case Details:
On December 23, 2025, at approximately 2000 hours, Douglas County Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting a structure fire at an apartment building in the City of Carlos. At the time of the calls, it was unknown whether the building was occupied. Deputies arrived on scene and observed heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the interior of the duplex. It was later confirmed that no occupants were home when the fire started. The Carlos Fire Department and Miltona Fire Department responded and began fire suppression efforts. The Alexandria Fire Department was requested to assist with an aerial ladder truck. North Ambulance also responded as a precaution; no persons were injured. Minnesota Department of Natural Resources assisted on scene as well. The State Fire Marshal has been contacted, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The duplex has been deemed a total loss. The American Red Cross was contacted and came to the scene to assist the displaced tenants.
