Case Details:
On 01/21/2026 at 1645 hours, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and the Miltona Fire Department responded to 252 Elm St N in the city of Miltona for a structure fire. Firefighters on scene requested mutual aid from the Carlos Fire Department. The fire is believed to have been started by a portable heater placed under the residence in an attempt to thaw frozen water pipes. The fire is not considered to be suspicious. North Ambulance responded to the scene and transported two patients with minor injuries as a result of the fire to Alomere Health. The State Fire Marshall has also been notified of the incident. This investigation remains under investigation.
