Case Details:
On 12/19/2025 at 0839 hours, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a train versus garbage truck at the address of 6533 Co Rd 87 SE in Forada Township. A deputy was close to the scene when the call was dispatched. Upon arrival it was discovered the garbage truck was on its side and the driver of the garbage truck was trapped under the rolled vehicle. The Alexandria Fire Department was able to lift the garbage truck with extrication equipment and the driver was removed. The driver sustained severe injuries and was taken to St. Cloud Hospital by Life Link Helicopter. The train conductor was not injured.
Names of those involved are being held pending notifications. North Ambulance, Douglas County Public Works, Alexandria Police Department, State patrol, and railroad staff also responded to the scene to assist with the initial response. This case remains under investigation.
