Incident: Medical Call

Location: 16062 State Highway 27 W, Kensington

Complainant/Victim: Shawn Reishus, Age 39 of Alexandria, MN

Case Details:

On November 25, 2023 at 08:01 AM the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call from a male stating he had just overturned his kayak while duck hunting on lake Oscar. The caller overturned his kayak in around five feet of water and then attempted to flip it back over and paddle to shore. Eventually, due to the amount of water inside the kayak, it submerged around 100 yards from the shoreline. The caller then swam towards shore where he was able to contact 911 from a personal cellphone. After first responders and deputies arrived, the caller was treated and transported from the scene by North Ambulance. The males injuries do not appear to be life threatening. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was assisted by Kensington first responders and North Ambulance.

Officer: Deputy Logan Waldvogel, #210
