Date Reported: 06/02/2026 at 10:40 AM

Incident: Missing Person

Location: Harmony Hills Drive NW - Carlos Township

Complainant/Victim: Paul Lommen, age 87 of Alexandria, MN

Case Details:

On June 2, 2026 at about 10:40 am, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a call from Lynn Lommen reporting her elderly husband, Paul, who suffers from dementia, was missing from the house. Douglas County deputies responded and learned Paul was missing for close to one hour and was last seen by Lynn approaching a neighbor's house. There were already several neighbors on foot and using ATV's looking for Paul when deputies arrived. The Lommen house was immediately checked to be certain Paul hadn't returned home already and then the search for Paul was expanded. An emergency alert was issued to those within a 3-mile radius of Harmony Hills Drive NW to be watchful for Paul. After nearly four hours of searching, Paul was located safe at a neighbor's house. He was brought home and did not require any medical attention.

The following resources were also utilized in the search effort:

The Douglas County Drone team was notified and responded with assistance from an Alexandria Police Department Drone team member. Douglas County deputies maintained an observational perimeter and other deputies roamed the area in squad cars. Park Rangers at nearby Carlos State Park checked their property and trails. Several members of the Alexandria Fire Department assisted with maintaining an observational perimeter, as well as checking fields and wooded areas with their side by side UTV, and another member assisted the drone operators and maintained communication between AFD members and DCSO command. LifeLink III was able to fly a helicopter over the area allowing for a birds-eye view and covering a large area in a short amount of time. Several MN DNR Conservation Officer's responded with ATV's to search fields and wooded areas, and assisted with requesting state-owned aircraft to continue the aerial search. A Douglas County Sheriff's Office K9 team responded to search the area, as well as a Stearns County Sheriff's Office K9 bloodhound. A MN DNR Conservation Officer K9 team was also en route but was canceled after Paul was located. Douglas County Emergency Management assisted with social media information and updates, providing food and beverages for those searching, and planning for a larger-scale search should that have been necessary. The Sheriff's Office is thankful for everyone who responded to assist in the search, including Lommens' neighbors.

Officer: Sgt. Ron Boyden, #209
