Incident: Pole Shed Fire

Location: 12435 MN Hwy 29 S, Rural Alexandria, Hudson Township

Complainant/Victim: Owner: David Kent

Case Details:

On March 24, 2026 at about 3:38 pm the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call about a structure fire at 12435 MN Hwy 29 South near Forada. The caller, who was working nearby, reported seeing smoke coming from the roof and eaves a 50' by 60' pole shed. When law enforcement arrived the fire was contained to the interior of the building which was causing the roof to collapse. The Forada Fire Department responded and requested mutual aid from the Glenwood Fire Department, Alexandria Fire Department, and Villard Fire Department. The flames eventually broke through the steel roof and were accelerated by southeast winds resulting in a total structural loss. The building was mostly cold storage with a small heated workshop. The building contained personal property belonging to the homeowner, including recreational equipment. At this time the cause of the fire is unknown but doesn't appear suspicious. The homeowner is cooperative and the State Fire Marshal's Office is assisting with the investigation.

Officer: Sgt. Ron Boyden, #209
