Case Details:
On 11/30/2025 at 5:06 p.m., the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call about a shed fire in Melby. The caller stated the structure was fully engulfed in fire and was near the house. When a deputy arrived, everyone was out of the home and safe. Evansville Fire Department and Ashby Fire Department were able to extinguish the fire. The home sustained minor damage but the shed was a total loss. The owner of the property stated a heat lamp was on in the shed and believed it was the cause of the fire.
Responding agencies include the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Fire Department, Ashby Fire Department and Otter Tail Power Company.
