Details:
On 2/22/2026 at 7:13a.m the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a call from a homeowner reporting his house was full of smoke. Douglas County deputies and Brandon Fire Department responded to the scene and found both occupants of the house were able to exit and were unharmed. The Brandon Fire Department requested assistance from the Garfield Fire Department, and both agencies were able to extinguish the fire. The fire was believed to have started upstairs. The homeowner was checked on scene by North Memorial Ambulance for smoke inhalation but did not need to be transported to a hospital. The Red Cross will be providing resources to the occupants of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Minnesota State Fire Marshal.
