Case Number: 26000273

Date Reported: 1/7/2026

Incident: Water Related Incident

Location: Lake Ida, west side

Complainant/Victim: Alycia Lynn Stotesbery, Age 24 of Alexandria, MN

Case Details:

On 01/07/2026 at 1818 hours, Douglas County deputies were dispatched to the southwest bay of Lake Ida between Breezy Point and Lakeview Point, for a vehicle that went through the ice. Dispatch advised the solo occupant was out of the water and walking towards the north shore. Deputies arrived and located the female.
It was learned she was operating a snowmobile that went through the ice. She was able to safely jump from the machine and was not injured. A Douglas County Drone was used to locate the location where the snowmobile went through the ice. The location has not been marked for the public due to dangerous ice conditions in the area.
The Sheriff's Office wants to remind everyone that, due to the variable weather conditions this season, the ice is still unsafe in many areas. Please use caution while on the ice, let someone know where you are going, and be aware of changing ice conditions.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Douglas County Drone Team

Officer: Deputy Aaron Vega, #236
