Victim: Brent Marvin Ost, Age 64 of Parkers Prairie, MN

Details: On January 9th, 2024 at approximately 11:23 am Douglas County Dispatch received a 911 call from 19900 Co Rd 6 NW regarding a male who was trapped inside a grain bin. First responders quickly arrived on scene and learned Brent Marvin Ost was in a shed on the property that stores corn and Ost was submerged in the corn up to his chest, but was breathing and talking. Leaf Valley Fire & Rescue, as well as by-standers, worked quickly together utilizing grain bin rescue equipment to successfully remove Ost from the corn pile without any further issues. Deputies learned that Ost had been on top of the corn pile working with a grain vacuum hose when the caller, who was near a tractor beside the shed operating the grain bin vacuum, had noticed that the vacuum slowed down, and appeared to be blocked. Bradley Swenson went to check on Ost in the shed and that is when he noticed Ost had became submerged up to his chest in the corn pile and immediately called 911. Ost was transported from the scene by North Ambulance to Alomere Health. Ost's injuries did not appear to be life threatening. The Douglas County Sheriff's Office was assisted on scene by Leaf Valley Fire & Rescue as well as North Memorial Ambulance, and Parkers Prairie Ambulance.
